Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
- Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Replacement - Remove
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement - Remove
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)
Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Remove - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Remove - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
- Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (2) - Remove - Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Non-Tamperproof) , or Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Tamperproof)
Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (1) @Engine - Disconnect - Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Radiator Inlet Hose@Engine - Disconnect - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG without V18) , or Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG with V18)
- Radiator Outlet Hose@Engine - Disconnect - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG without V18) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG with V18)
- Fuel Feed Pipe@Engine - Disconnect - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (At Fuel Injection Pump) , or Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Engine to Tank)
Air Conditioning Compressor Hose (3) - Disconnect - Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG with Y4Q) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG without Y4Q)
- Transmission Control Replacement (M13) - Remove
- Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Coupe with LTG and M5T) , or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Convertible with LTG and M5T) - Remove
- Disconnect the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe from the transmission. Hydraulic Clutch Hose/Pipe Replacement (M13)
Evaporative Emission Pipe (1) @Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve@Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Evaporative Emission Pipe (2) @Retainer - Reposition
- Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement - Remove
- Engine Control Module Bracket - Remove - Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement
Remove the cap (1) from the ground stud nut.
- Remove the nut from the stud. (2)
- Disconnect the remaining engine wiring harness connectors then position the wiring harness (3) on top the engine.
- Disconnect the air conditioning pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Charge Air Cooler-Right Side - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Right Side (LTG with V18)
- Charge Air Cooler-Left Side - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Left Side (LTG with V18)
Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor harness retainers (1) Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Replacement (LGX LTG)
- Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor (2).
- Heater Inlet Hose@Heater Core - Disconnect - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Heater Outlet Hose@Heater Core - Disconnect - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Disconnect the vacuum brake booster vacuum switch electrical connector.
- WARNING:
Provide additional support when a vehicle is on a hoist in the following ways:
- Before removing parts, support the opposite end. This helps prevent the vehicle from slipping off.
- Before removing major components, chain the vehicle frame to the hoist pads at the same end as the removal. This helps avoid a tip-off.
Failure to follow these precautions could cause vehicle damage, serious personal injury, or death.
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose@Power Brake Booster - Disconnect - Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler - Remove - Auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler Replacement (LTG with Y4Q)
- Air Conditioning Compressor Hose@Air Conditioning Compressor - Disconnect - Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG with Y4Q) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG without Y4Q)
- Strap the vehicle to the hoist.
- Ensure when raising the body the following items are clear from the frame:
- Vacuum lines
- Steering knuckles
- Electrical wiring harnesses
Ensure that the fuel pump connector (1) clears the body structure when removing the engine.
- Remove the drivetrain and front suspension frame with the powertrain attached. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (LTG)
- Secure the powertrain to the support table using straps and binders.
- Separate the engine from the transmission. Transmission Replacement (M13 with LTG Engine)
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness as necessary.
