Installation Procedure
- Attach the wiring harness and connect the electrical connectors as necessary.
- Install the transmission to the engine. Transmission Replacement (M13 with LTG Engine)
- Remove the straps and binders securing the powertrain to the support table.
- Ensure when lowering the body the following items are clear from the frame:
- Vacuum lines
- Steering knuckles
- Electrical wiring harnesses
Ensure that the fuel pump connector (1) clears the body structure when installing the engine.
- Install the drivetrain and front suspension frame with the powertrain attached. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (LTG)
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose@Power Brake Booster - Connect - Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Connect the vacuum brake booster vacuum switch electrical connector.
- Heater Outlet Hose@Heater Core - Connect - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG) .
- Heater Inlet Hose@Heater Core - Connect - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG) .
Position the wiring harness (3).
- Ground Nut (2) - Install and tighten 12 N.m (9 lb ft)
- Install the cap (1) onto the ground stud nut.
- Connect the air conditioning pressure sensor electrical connector.
Connect the ambient air temperature sensor harness retainers (1) Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Replacement (LGX LTG)
- Connect the ambient air temperature sensor (2).
- Connect the remaining engine wiring harness connectors as needed.
- Charge Air Cooler-Right Side - Install - Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Right Side (LTG with V18)
- Charge Air Cooler-Left Side - Install - Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Left Side (LTG with V18)
- Engine Control Module Bracket - Install - Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement
- Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement - Install
Evaporative Emission Pipe (2) @Retainer - Connect
- Evaporative Emission Pipe (1) @Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve - Connect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Air Conditioning Compressor Hose (3) - Connect - Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG with Y4Q) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG without Y4Q)
- Transmission Control Replacement (M13) - Install
- Connect the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe to the transmission. Hydraulic Clutch Hose/Pipe Replacement (M13)
- Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Coupe with LTG and M5T) , or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Convertible with LTG and M5T) - Install
- Air Conditioning Compressor Hose@Air Conditioning Compressor - Connect - Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG with Y4Q) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG without Y4Q)
- Auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler - Install - Auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler Replacement (LTG with Y4Q)
Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (1) @Engine - Connect - Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Radiator Inlet Hose@Engine - Connect - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG without V18) , or Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG with V18)
- Radiator Outlet Hose@Engine - Connect - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG without V18) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG with V18)
- Fuel Feed Pipe@Engine - Connect - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (At Fuel Injection Pump) , or Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Engine to Tank)
- Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Replacement - Install
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement - Install
Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Install - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Install - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
- Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (2) - Install - Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Non-Tamperproof) , or Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Tamperproof)
- Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)
- Recharge the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
- If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing
- Unstrap vehicle from hoist.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.
