Turbocharger and Components Cleaning and Inspection

Turbocharger and Components Cleaning and Inspection

Callout Component Name
1 Turbocharger

Procedure

  1. Clean all mating surfaces.
  2. Inspect all threaded holes for damage.
  3. NOTE:

    PCV fluids and combustion product buildup are common and not a sign of failure.

  4. Inspect the compressor and turbine blades for bent or broken conditions, and foreign material.
  5. NOTE:

    Do not replace the turbocharger if cracks are found on the turbocharger inlet flange partition wall. Replacement should only be performed if external leaks are present or a section is loose or missing.

  6. Inspect the turbocharger compressor inlet, compressor outlet, turbine inlet, and turbine outlet surfaces for damage. Replace the turbocharger if damage is found.
  7. NOTE:

    A new PCV tube and fitting are included with a new turbocharger assembly.

  8. Replace the turbocharger if damage is found. Refer to Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger Replacement .
2 Turbocharger Bypass Valve Solenoid
Procedure 
Inspect the bypass valve solenoid for damage. Replace if necessary.
3 Turbocharger Wastegate Regulator Solenoid Valve
NOTE:

Do not disassemble solenoid valve from bracket.


Procedure 
Inspect the solenoid valve and bracket for damage. Replace if necessary.
4 Turbocharger Wastegate Regulator Solenoid Valve Hose [3x]
Procedure 
Inspect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid hoses for damage. Replace the hoses if necessary.
5 Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator

Procedure

  1. Inspect the turbocharger wastegate actuator.
  2. Inspect the wastegate actuator rod for damage or tampering.
  3. Replace the wastegate actuator if damage is found.
6 Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe
Procedure 
Inspect the pipe. Replace if necessary.
7 Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe
Procedure 
Inspect the pipe. Replace if necessary.
8 Turbocharger Coolant Feed Pipe
Procedure 
Inspect the pipe. Replace if necessary.
9 Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe
Procedure 
Inspect the pipe. Replace if necessary.
