Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant position the instrument panel tie bar assembly into the vehicle.
  2. Install the instrument panel wiring harness assembly to its in vehicle position as it was noted in the removal procedure.

    Loosely install the bolts (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle body.

    Loosely install the fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the HVAC module.

    Loosely install the bolts (1) securing the right and left instrument panel tie bar lower support brackets (2) to the front floor tunnel panel.

    Loosely install the bolt (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar to the brake pedal mounting bracket.

    Loosely install the bolts (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the brake pedal bracket.

    Loosely install the nut (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the cowl panel.

    9. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  9. tighten the instrument panel tie bar to vehicle body bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  10. tighten the instrument panel tie bar to HVAC module fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  11. tighten the instrument panel tie bar lower support bracket to front floor tunnel panel bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  12. tighten the instrument panel tie bar to brake pedal mounting bracket bolt to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  13. tighten the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the brake pedal bracket bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  14. tighten the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the cowl panel nut to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

    Install the instrument panel fuse block (1) onto the instrument panel tie bar assembly.

    Windshield Wiper Transmission (2) - Install - Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement

  17. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Chevrolet, Mexico, NJ1, With BTM, With N06) , or Steering Column Replacement (Chevrolet, Canada/United States, NJ1, With BTM, Without N06) , or Steering Column Replacement (Chevrolet, Canada/United States, NJ1, Without BTM, Without N06) , or Steering Column Replacement (Chevrolet, Mexico, NJ1, Without BTM, Without N06) , or Steering Column Replacement (Mexico, N40) .
  18. Install the air inlet grill panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Chevrolet) .
  19. Install the left floor front air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side (Chevrolet) , or Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side (Buick) .
  20. Install the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement (Chevrolet) .
  21. Install the Instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement (Chevrolet) .
