Circuit/System Testing

  1. Verify a condition does not exist with the component:
    • Induction System - Leaking/Loose Clamps/Missing components/Restricted/Visible Damage
    • Exhaust System - Leaking/Loose Clamps/Missing components/Restricted/Visible Damage - Refer to: Symptoms - Engine Exhaust for further diagnosis.
    • If a condition exists 

      Repair or replace as necessary

    • Go to next step: If no condition exists 
  2. Verify the following conditions do not exist:
    • If a condition exists 

      Repair or replace as necessary

    • Go to next step: If no condition exists 
  3. Perform the scan tool function: Particulate Filter Service Regeneration
  4. Verify sensor 2 is at least 100°C (180°F) warmer than sensor 1:
    • Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1
    • Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2
    • If sensor 2 is not at least 100°C (180°F) warmer than sensor 1 

      Replace the component: Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter - With Particulate Filter

    • Go to next step: If sensor 2 is at least 100°C (180°F) warmer than sensor 1 
  5. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

    Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets 

      Refer to step 1

    • Go to next step: If no DTC is set 
  6. All OK.
