Engine Block Deck Flatness Inspection

Inspect the engine block as shown for flatness and distortion along the diagonal. Use a straightedge (1) and a feeler gauge (2). If the deck surface is out of specification, replace the block. DO NOT machine the block. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications for the recommended limits.
