Scraping Noise

DEFINITION: A scraping noise occurs when driving the vehicle at various speeds.
Exhaust/propeller shaft heat shield is in contact with the propeller shaft. Correct the interference as necessary.
Exhaust system component is in contact with the propeller shaft. Correct the interference as necessary.
Balance weight detached from the propeller shaft. A detached balance weight may create a sliding, scraping, or ticking type noise during acceleration or deceleration.
  1. Inspect the propeller shaft and tube for a detached balance weight.
  2. Do not attempt to reattach a loose/missing balance weight to the propeller shaft. Replace the propeller shaft. Propeller Shaft Replacement (2WD) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (4WD)
