Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON.
Liftgate Closed, verify the scan tool Rear Gate Latch Unlatch Switch, Rear Gate Latch Primary Switch, and Rear Gate Latch Neutral Switch parameters are as listed below:
- Rear Gate Latch Unlatch Switch parameter Inactive
- Rear Gate Latch Primary Switch parameter Inactive
- Rear Gate Latch Neutral Switch parameter Inactive
- If any of the parameters are not as listed
  Refer to DTC B1584, B1ABB, or B1ABC - Liftgate Latch Switches Malfunction .
- Go to next step: If the parameters are as listed
Verify the A23C Liftgate Latch will activate and release the liftgate when pressing the appropriate button on the keyless entry transmitter twice
- If the A23C Liftgate Latch does not activate
  Refer to Liftgate Latch Release/Cinch Malfunction
- Go to next step: If the A23C Liftgate Latch does activate
Raise the liftgate to the fully open position, verify the scan tool parameter Rear Gate Travel is greater than 70%
- If not the specified value or the parameter does not change
  Refer to DTC B1589 or B158A - Liftgate Angle Sensor Malfunction .
- Go to next step: If greater than the specified value
Liftgate Open, verify the scan tool Rear Gate Anti-pinch Sensor Raw Voltage parameter is between 3 V-3.5 V.
- If not between 3 V-3.5 V
  Refer to DTC B1576 - Liftgate Object Sensor Malfunction .
- Go to next step: If between 3 V-3.5 V
Liftgate Open, verify the scan tool Rear Gate Latch Unlatch Switch, Rear Gate Latch Primary Switch, and Rear Gate Latch Neutral Switch parameters are as listed below:
- Rear Gate Latch Unlatch Switch Status parameter Active
- Rear Gate Latch Primary Switch Status parameter Active
- Rear Gate Latch Neutral Switch Status parameter Inactive
- If any of the parameter are not as listed
  Refer to DTC B1584, B1ABB, or B1ABC - Liftgate Latch Switches Malfunction .
- Go to next step: If the parameters are as listed
Verify the liftgate control switch on the A103 Roof Console is set to the Off setting.
Liftgate closed and latched, verify the A23C Liftgate Latch will activate and release the liftgate when pressing the S45A Liftgate Release Switch-Exterior.
- If the liftgate does not release when pressing the S45A Liftgate Release Switch-Exterior
  Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 1
- Go to next step: If the liftgate does release when pressing the S45A Liftgate Release Switch-Exterior
Verify the scan tool Rear Gate Close Switch parameter changes between Active and Inactive when pressing the B70 Liftgate Close Switch.
- If the parameter does not change
  Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 2
- Go to next step: If the parameter changes
Verify the liftgate control switch on the A103 Roof Console is set to the 3/4 or Max setting.
Verify the liftgate will perform the power open and power close functions when pressing the liftgate control switch.
- If the liftgate does not power open or power close and sets DTC B158B or DTC B158C
  Refer to DTC B158B or B158C - Liftgate Motor Power Open/Close Malfunction
- Go to next step: If the liftgate does power open and close
A fault is not currently present and may be an intermittent condition
