Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate component:
- {LT4, LT5} M10A Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump 1
- {LT5} M10B Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump 2
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 4 & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Disconnect the appropriate ground connection:
- {LT4, LT5} M10A Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump 1G102
- {LT5} M10B Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump 2G101
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 4 & The other end of the circuit@Terminal G101, G102
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Connect a test lamp between the test points:
- Control circuit terminal 1 & Ground circuit terminal 4
- Control circuit terminal 5 & Ground circuit terminal 4
Verify the test lamp does not turn On.
- If the test lamp turns On
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:
- Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Ground
- Control circuit terminal 5@Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 VTest or replace the component: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
- Go to next step: If the test lamp does not turn On
- Verify the fuse is not open:
- {LT4, LT5} F38UA - M10A
- {LT5} F86UA - M10B
- If the fuse is open
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Replace the appropriate component: Fuse
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Perform the scan tool control function: Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump - ON
Verify the fuse does not open.
- If the fuse opens
Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If the fuse does not open
Test or replace the component: M10 Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump
- If the fuse opens
- Go to next step: If the fuse is not open
- Perform the scan tool control function: Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump - On and Off
Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.
- If the test lamp does not turn On and Off
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
- Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & The other end of the circuit@Fuse/Junction Block Harness
- Control circuit terminal 5@Component harness & The other end of the circuit@Fuse/Junction Block Harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Test or replace the component: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
- Go to next step: If the component turns On and Off
- Replace the appropriate component: M10 Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump
NOTE:
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
