Circuit/System Verification

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system:
    • B35 Engine Oil Level Switch
    • B37B Engine Oil Pressure Sensor
    • Go to next step: If a related DTC is not set 
  3. Perform the scan tool control function: Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve - Low Pressure & High Pressure

    Verify the scan tool parameter:

    • Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage Test Status = Not Run or OK
    • Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Control Circuit High Voltage Test Status = Not Run or OK
    • Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or OK
    • If not the specified state 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If the specified state 
  4. Engine - Running @ 1, 800 to 2, 000 RPM
    5. NOTE:

    Using the scan tool line graph function may make it easier to identify if the value changes.

  5. Perform the scan tool control function: Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve - Low Pressure & High Pressure

    Verify the scan tool parameter: Engine Oil Pressure = Change is greater than 30 kPa (4 PSI)

    • If the change is 30 kPa (4 PSI) or less 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Verify the following conditions do not exist:
        NOTE:

        The engine oil level and condition is critical to the correct operation of the system.

      • Engine Oil - Contaminated/Dirty/Fill Level = Low
      • Fluid/oil passage @ B37B Engine Oil Pressure Sensor - Blocked/Restricted
      • Fluid/oil passage @ Q44 Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve - Blocked/Restricted
      • If a condition exists - Repair or replace as necessary
      • Go to next step: If no conditions exist
    3. Replace the component: Q44 Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve
    • Go to next step: If the change is greater than 30 kPa (4 PSI) 
  6. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

    Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set 
  7. All OK.
