Installation Procedure

NOTE:
The flywheel does not use a locating pin for alignment and will not initially seat against the crankshaft flange, but will be pulled onto the crankshaft by the engine flywheel bolts.

Install the flywheel (1) to the crankshaft.

CAUTION:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

Install and hand tighten the NEW flywheel bolts (2).

CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the J-42386-A flywheel holding tool and bolts.

Use 1 M10 - 1.5 x 120 mm and 1 M10 - 1.5 x 45 mm bolt for proper tool operation.

Tighten the J-42386-A flywheel holding tool and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

Tighten the flywheel bolts (1).
1. Tighten the bolts (1 - 8) a first pass in sequence to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
2. Tighten the bolts (1 - 8) a second pass in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
3. Tighten the bolts (1 - 8) a final pass in sequence an additional 45 degrees using EN-45059 angle meter.
Remove the J-42386-A flywheel holding tool
Install the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement (MJK, MH3, MM6) .
