Removal Procedure

- Remove the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement (LT4-Automatic Transmission) .
- Remove the valve lifter follower guide. Refer to Valve Lifter Follower Guide Replacement .
- Remove and DISCARD the valve lifters. Refer to Valve Lifter Replacement .
Remove the CMP actuator (1) and timing chain (2). Refer to Timing Chain, Crankshaft Sprocket, Camshaft Position Actuator, and Solenoid Valve Replacement . Discard the CMP actuator.
Remove the 4 camshaft retainer bolts (1).
- Remove the camshaft retainer (2).
- Remove the camshaft (3).
