Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Inspect the fuel injection fuel rail insulators and replace if necessary.
  2. If replacing the fuel injection fuel rail, install the rebuilt fuel injectors. Fuel Injector Replacement (LT1)

    NOTE:
    • ALL fuel injector seals MUST be clean and free of debris prior to installation.
    • Do NOT use ANY type of lubricant when installing the NEW fuel injector seals.

    Install the EN-51105 - 1  adapter (3) onto the fuel injector tip, covering the first recessed area closest to the tip.

  4. Place a NEW fuel injector seal (2) on the EN-51105 - 1  adapter.
  5. Use the EN-49245 - 3  sizer (1) to install the NEW fuel injector seal (2) onto the second recessed area (4) on the fuel injector.
    6. NOTE:

    The EN-49245 - 4  sizer is two sided. Either direction will size the NEW fuel injector seal correctly.

  6. Compress the NEW fuel injector seal (2) with your fingers and then resize the seal using the EN-49245 - 4  sizer (5).

    Install the EN-51105 - 2  adapter (3) onto the fuel injector tip.

  8. Place a NEW fuel injector seal (2) on the EN-51105 - 2  adapter.
  9. Use the EN-49245 - 3  sizer (1) to install the NEW fuel injector seal (2) onto the first recessed area (4) on the fuel injector.
    10. NOTE:

    The EN-49245 - 4  sizer is two sided. Either direction will size the NEW fuel injector seal correctly.

  10. Compress the NEW fuel injector seal (2) with your fingers and then resize the seal using the EN-49245 - 4  sizer (5).

    Install the NEW fuel injector seal (1).

  12. Repeat the process for each fuel injector.

    NOTE:

    Ensure the fuel injection fuel rail bolts are retained securely in the fuel injection fuel rail insulators BEFORE applying the thread locking adhesive.

    Perform the following steps to install the fuel injection fuel rail bolts (1) :

    1. Thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Install the bolts into the fuel injection fuel rail insulators.
    3. Apply a 0.5 mm (0 in) band of thread locking adhesive to the threads of each bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
  14. Position the fuel injection fuel rail (2) and start the fuel injection fuel rail bolts (1) by hand.
  15. Once ALL fasteners are started, push the fuel injection fuel rail (2) down evenly to fully seat the fuel injectors.
    16. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  16. Tighten the fuel injection fuel rail fasteners (1) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  17. Connect the engine wiring harness connectors to the fuel injection fuel rail and fuel pump.
    18. NOTE:
    • Do NOT reuse the fuel feed intermediate pipe. If the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings are loosened or the pipes are removed, the pipes MUST be replaced.
    • The tightening order and torque are CRITICAL to proper fuel system fit and function. Be sure to follow installation and tightening steps EXACTLY.
  18. Install a NEW fuel feed intermediate pipe. Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - Position 1 (LT1) 
    19. NOTE:

    Inspect for fuel leaks before covering the fuel lines.

  19. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  20. Install the fuel pump insulator. Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement (LT1)
