WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

For an overview of the component/system, refer to Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger System Description

Circuit Description
Control - Terminal 1 The output circuit is switched to 12 V to activate the component.
Control - Terminal 2 The output circuit is switched to ground to activate the component.
Component Description
K20 Engine Control Module The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs.
The control module controls a series of actuators to ensure optimal engine performance. The control module does this by reading values from a variety of sensors, interprets the data and adjusts the engine actuators accordingly.
Q42 Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid Valve In the unpowered state, the output port of the valve is connected to the ventilation port (atmospheric pressure). The more voltage applied, the more the valve shifts over from the ventilation port to the pressure supply port so that the pressure at the output port becomes stronger.
A wastegate is a valve that diverts exhaust gases away from the turbine wheel of a turbocharger directly into the exhaust system. The primary function of the wastegate is to regulate the maximum boost pressure and to protect the engine and the turbocharger. The wastegate valve is actuated by a pressure actuator, which is controlled by a solenoid valve.
