Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ T12 Automatic Transmission Assembly
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points: Low Reference circuit terminal 27 & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Low Reference circuit terminal 27 @ Component harness & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for 4.8 to 5.2 V between the test points: 5 V Reference circuit terminal 13 & Low Reference circuit terminal 27
- If less than 4.8 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: 5 V Reference circuit terminal 13 @ Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: 5 V Reference circuit terminal 13 @ Component harness & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- If greater than 5.2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points: C @ Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If between 4.8 and 5.2 V
- Verify the scan tool parameter:
- {P0841 - P0843} Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 1 = 4.8 to 5.2 V
- {P0846 - P0848} Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 2 = 4.8 to 5.2 V
- If less than 4.8 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: 5 V Reference circuit terminal 13 & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: 5 V Reference circuit terminal 13 & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- If greater than 5.2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Ground &
- {P0841 - P0843} Signal circuit terminal 11 @ Component harness
- {P0846 - P0848} Signal circuit terminal 9 @ Component harness
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If between 4.8 and 5.2 V
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Ground &
- {P0841 - P0843} Signal circuit terminal 11
- {P0846 - P0848} Signal circuit terminal 9
- Verify the scan tool parameter:
- {P0841 - P0843} Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 1 = 0.0 V
- {P0846 - P0848} Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 2 = 0.0 V
- If greater than 0.0 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Jumper wire(s)
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Ground &
- {P0841 - P0843} Signal circuit terminal 11
- {P0846 - P0848} Signal circuit terminal 9
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
- {P0841 - P0843} Signal circuit terminal 11 & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
- {P0846 - P0848} Signal circuit terminal 9 & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If 0.0 V
- Remove the component: Control Valve Body Cover
- Connect the electrical connector: X1 @ T12 Automatic Transmission Assembly
- Disconnect the electrical connector:
- {P0841 - P0843} B12BA Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 1
- {P0846 - P0848} B12BB Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 2
- Test for 4.8 to 5.2 V between the test points: 5 V Reference circuit terminal 1 & Low Reference circuit terminal 2
- If less than 4.8 V
Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
- Go to next step: If between 4.8 and 5.2 V
- If less than 4.8 V
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 3 & 5 V Reference circuit terminal 1
- Verify the scan tool parameter:
- {P0841 - P0843} Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 1 = 5.0 V
- {P0846 - P0848} Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor 2 = 5.0 V
- If less than 5.0 V
Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
- Go to next step: If 5.0 V
- Test or replace the component: B12B Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor
NOTE:
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
