Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Removal

NOTE:
- Lay the lower bearings and the caps aside in the order as they were removed.
- The connecting rod caps must remain with the original connecting rod. The caps must be oriented identical to the original installation.
Turn the crankshaft 60 degrees.
- Connecting Rod Bearing Cap Bolt (8) @ Cylinder 1 - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
- Connecting Rod Cap (9) @ Cylinder 1 - Remove
- Connecting Rod Bearing (1) @ Connecting Rod Cap - Remove
- Turn the crankshaft 120 degrees.
- Connecting Rod Bearing Cap Bolt (5) @ Cylinder 3 - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
- Connecting Rod Cap (4) @ Cylinder 3 - Remove
- Connecting Rod Bearing (3) @ Connecting Rod Cap - Remove
- Turn the crankshaft 120 degrees.
- Connecting Rod Bearing Cap Bolt (6) @ Cylinder 2 - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
- Connecting Rod Cap (7) @ Cylinder 2 - Remove
- Connecting Rod Bearing (2) @ Connecting Rod Cap - Remove
- NOTE:
Lay the piston and the upper bearings aside in the order as they were removed.
Push the 3 pistons (1) with the 3 connecting rods out of all cylinders.
- Connecting Rod Bearing (2) @ Connecting Rod - Remove [3x]
- Inspect the pistons (1). Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Cleaning and Inspection
NOTE:
Some models may have pistons with an integral ring carrier design. It is important that all pistons match. When replacing pistons, ensure the correct matching pistons are used.
