Lower Oil Pan Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Engine Oil and Oil Filter - Remove - Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

    Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve Bolt (2) - Remove

  3. Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve (1) - Remove
  4. Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD

    Lower Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Remove [12x]

    NOTE:
    • The oil pump drive belt (9) is close to the rail of the oil pan. Loosen the oil pan carefully from the lower crankcase extension. It is possible to damage the oil pump belt.
    • Ensure that the oil pan locating pins (4, 7) do NOT get damaged while loosening.

    Use the EN-37228  Separating Tool (1) to carefully loosen the lower oil pan (8), first in sequence at the locations (2, 3, 5, 6) as shown. Then carefully loosen the lower oil pan evenly all the way around, avoiding the locations near the oil pan locating pins.

    Lower Oil Pan (1) - Remove and DISCARD

Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    DO NOT allow cleaning solvents to come in contact with the oil pump belt.

  1. Clean all sealing surfaces.

    Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. - Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant 

  3. NOTE:
    • All sealing surfaces must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealant.
    • Installation and final torque specification must be completed within 10 minutes of applying the sealant.
  4. If there is no RTV template line on the flange of new lower oil pan, apply a 4 mm (0.16 in) bead of sealant (1) to the lower crankcase extension. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    If there is the RTV template line on the flange of new lower oil pan, apply a 4 mm (0.16 in) bead of sealant (1) to the lower oil pan. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    Lower Oil Pan (1) - Install NEW

    Lower Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Install [12x]

  8. Lower Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence [12x] 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)

    Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Seal (3) - Install NEW

  10. Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve (1) - Install
  11. Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve Bolt (2) - Install and tighten 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)
  12. Engine Oil and Oil Filter - Install - Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
