Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Engine Oil and Oil Filter - Remove and DISCARD - Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Transmission - Remove - Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation (L84, L87 with 2WD with F47) , or Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation (L84, L87 with 2WD without F47)
- Position the EN-42386
Flywheel Holding Tool (1) into place.
- Install the M10-1.5 x 120 mm (3) and the M10-1.5 x 45 mm (2) bolts and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [8x]NOTE:
Note the position and direction of the automatic transmission flex plate before removal.
- Automatic Transmission Flex Plate (1) - Remove
- If the crankshaft rear oil seal cover is reused perform the following steps:
- Install the EN-51096
Seal Remover (2) to the GE-23907-1
Slide Hammer with Shaft (1).
- Slide the small bend of the EN-51096 Seal Remover (2) between the lip of the crankshaft rear oil seal and crankshaft. Ensure that the small bend of the EN-51096 Crankshaft Rear Seal Remover (2) engages the rear side of the crankshaft rear oil seal (3).
- Using the EN-51096 Seal Remover (2) and GE-23907-1 Slide Hammer with Shaft (1) remove the crankshaft rear oil seal (3).
- Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal (1) - Remove and DISCARD
NOTE:EN-51096 Crankshaft Rear Seal Remover (2) has two ends. The end with the small bend will be used to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal (3).
- Install the EN-51096
Seal Remover (2) to the GE-23907-1
Slide Hammer with Shaft (1).
- Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Loosen until disengaged [2x]
- Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Bolt (1) - Loosen until disengaged [12x]
- Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing (2) - Remove
- If reusing the crankshaft rear oil seal housing (2), remove and DISCARD the crankshaft rear oil seal housing gasket (1) from the crankshaft rear oil seal housing (2).
NOTE:
If the crankshaft rear oil seal cover is reused, the crankshaft rear oil seal must be replaced.
