Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  2. Remove the oil level indicator. (1)

  3. Oil Level Indicator Tube Bolt (1) - Remove

  4. Engine Oil and Oil Filter - Remove and DISCARD - Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
  5. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [10x]

  6. Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt (2) - Remove [8x]
  7. Pull the front bumper fascia extension (1) rearward and down from the front bumper fascia.

  8. Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]

  9. Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt@Skid Shield (3) - Remove [2x]
  10. Remove wiring harness retainers as necessary.
  11. Pull the front bumper fascia extension (4) rearward and down.
  12. Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  13. Underbody Skid Shield (2) - Remove
  14. Engine Oil Cooler Hose Clip (1) - Release

  15. Front Stabilizer Shaft Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    NOTE:

    Support the front stabilizer shaft.

  16. Front Stabilizer Shaft Clamp (2) - Remove [2x]
  17. Front Stabilizer Shaft (3) - Remove
  18. Electrical Connector@Heater Coolant Pump (2) - Disconnect

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

  19. Heater Water Auxiliary Pump Bolt (1) - Remove
  20. Remove the heater coolant pump and heater water auxiliary pump bracket (2) as assembly and position aside.
  21. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

  22. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]
  23. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember (1) - Remove

  24. Disconnect harness connector and retainers as necessary.
  25. Torque Converter Cover Bolt-Left Side (1) - Remove

  27. Engine Oil Cooler Hose Bracket Nut (1) - Remove

  29. Electrical Connector (1) @Engine Oil Pressure Sensor - Disconnect

  30. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) @Engine Oil Cooler Hose - Remove
  31. Engine Oil Cooler Adapter Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  33. Engine Oil Cooler Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  34. Electrical Connector@Knock Sensor (4) - Disconnect

  35. Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler pipe bracket nut (1) from the oil pan.

  36. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove

  37. Engine Wiring Harness Ground Stud (1) - Remove [2x]
  38. Engine Wiring Harness (3) @Oil Pan - Reposition
  39. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) @Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) - Disconnect

  40. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors and retainers as necessary.
  41. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip Bolt (1) @Oil Pan - Remove

  42. NOTE:

    Components removed in graphic to better illustrate service parts.

  43. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip Bracket (2) @Oil Pan - Remove
  44. Reposition the transmission cooler inlet and outlet pipe (1) as necessary.

  66. Crankshaft Oil Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [10x]

  68. Oil Pan High Pressure Port Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]

  69. Oil Pan Front Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD
  70. Using the appropriate tool, clean and prepare the applicable sealing surface.
  71. Engine Oil Level Sensor Lead Clip (4) - Remove

  72. Engine Oil Level Sensor Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  73. Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch (2) - Remove
  74. Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch O-Ring Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD
