Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  2. Remove the oil level indicator. (1)

  3. Oil Level Indicator Tube Bolt (1) - Remove

  4. Engine Oil and Oil Filter - Remove and DISCARD - Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
  5. Front Bumper Fascia Skid Plate Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  6. Underbody Splash Shield Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]
  7. Underbody Splash Shield (1) - Remove

  9. Underbody Skid Shield (3) - Remove
  10. Engine Oil Cooler Hose Clip (1) - Release

  11. Front Stabilizer Shaft Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    NOTE:

    Support the front stabilizer shaft.

  12. Front Stabilizer Shaft Clamp (2) - Remove [2x]
  13. Front Stabilizer Shaft (3) - Remove
  14. Electrical Connector@Heater Coolant Pump (2) - Disconnect

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

  15. Heater Water Auxiliary Pump Bolt (1) - Remove
  16. Remove the heater coolant pump and heater water auxiliary pump bracket (2) as assembly and position aside.
  17. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

  18. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]
  19. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember (1) - Remove

  20. Disconnect harness connector and retainers as necessary.
  21. Torque Converter Cover Bolt-Left Side (1) - Remove

  23. Engine Oil Cooler Hose Bracket Nut (1) - Remove

  25. Electrical Connector (1) @Engine Oil Pressure Sensor - Disconnect

  26. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) @Engine Oil Cooler Hose - Remove
  27. Engine Oil Cooler Adapter Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  29. Engine Oil Cooler Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  30. Electrical Connector@Knock Sensor (4) - Disconnect

  31. Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler pipe bracket nut (1) from the oil pan.

  32. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove

  33. Engine Wiring Harness Ground Stud (1) - Remove [2x]
  34. Engine Wiring Harness (3) @Oil Pan - Reposition
  35. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) @Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) - Disconnect

  36. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors and retainers as necessary.
  37. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip Bolt (1) @Oil Pan - Remove

  38. NOTE:

    Components removed in graphic to better illustrate service parts.

  39. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip Bracket (2) @Oil Pan - Remove
  40. Reposition the transmission cooler inlet and outlet pipe (1) as necessary.

  50. Reposition the starter (2) to access the electrical connections.

  62. Crankshaft Oil Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [10x]

  64. Oil Pan High Pressure Port Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]

  65. Oil Pan Front Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD
  66. Using the appropriate tool, clean and prepare the applicable sealing surface.

  69. Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch (2) - Remove
  70. Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch O-Ring Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD
