Component Testing

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Remove the component: Transmission Control Lever Knob
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector: S3 Transmission Shift Lever
  4. Test for 5, 900 to 6, 400 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 3 & Ground circuit terminal 2
    • If not between 5, 900 and 6, 400 ohms 

      Replace the component: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down

    • Go to next step: If between 5, 900 and 6, 400 ohms 
  5. Press and hold the switch: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down - Downshift
  6. Test for 1, 900 to 2, 100 kohms between the test points: Signal terminal 3 & Ground circuit terminal 2
    • If not between 1, 900 and 2, 100 ohms 

      Replace the component: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down

    • Go to next step: If between 1, 900 and 2, 100 ohms 
  7. Press and hold the switch: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down - Upshift
  8. Test for 600 to 660 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 3 & Ground circuit terminal 2
    • If not between 600 and 660 ohms 

      Replace the component: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down

    • Go to next step: If not between 600 and 660 ohms 
  9. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component's housing
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  10. All OK.
