Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

For an overview of the component/system, refer to: Evaporative Emission Control System Description

Component Description
G58 Evaporative Emission Purge Pump The assembly contains the following components:
  • EVAP Purge Pump - The pump is driven by a 12 V DC motor.
  • EVAP Purge Pump Pressure Sensor - The sensor measures the pressure in the component: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge System
K20 Engine Control Module The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs.
The control module controls a series of actuators to ensure optimal engine performance. The control module does this by reading values from a variety of sensors, interprets the data and adjusts the engine actuators accordingly.

This diagnostic tests if the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge pump pressure is greater than or less than a calibrated threshold. The pressure fail threshold is calculated as a function of purge valve duty cycle and barometric pressure.
