Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify DTC P0641 is not set.
    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set 
  3. NOTE:

    To minimize the effects of residual engine heat and heating elements inside the sensor, perform steps 4 and 5 of this procedure only if the ignition has been Off for longer than 8 h.

  4. Engine running.
  5. NOTE:

    The following parameter displays live data only when the engine is running: IAT Sensor 1 & IAT Sensor 2

  6. Verify the following parameter is within 5°C (9°F) of the actual ambient air temperature: IAT Sensor 1
    • Go to next step: If within 5°C (9°F) of the actual ambient air temperature 
  7. Verify the following parameter is within 5°C (9°F) of the actual ambient air temperature: IAT Sensor 2
    • Go to next step: If within 5°C (9°F) of the actual ambient air temperature 
  8. Verify the scan tool parameter: IAT Sensor 1 = Temperature should change with engine run time.
    • Go to next step: If the value changes 
  9. Verify the scan tool parameter: IAT Sensor 2 = Temperature should change with engine run time.
    • Go to next step: If the value changes 
  10. Verify the condition does not exist:
    • A loose charge air cooler hose.
    • An obstructed charge air cooler (snow, dirt, aftermarket parts, etc.).
    • Collapsed or restricted intake air duct.
    • Clogged air cleaner.
    • Water intrusion in the following components or their wiring harnesses: B75C Multifunction Intake Air Sensor
    • If a condition exists 

      Repair or replace as necessary

    • Go to next step: If no condition exists 
  11. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
  12. Verify the DTC does not set.
    • Go to next step: If the DTC does not set 
  13. All OK.
