Circuit Description
Ignition Supplied from a fuse.
Control The output circuit is switched to ground to activate the component.
Component Description
K20 Engine Control Module The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs.
The control module controls a series of actuators to ensure optimal engine performance. The control module does this by reading values from a variety of sensors, interprets the data and adjusts the engine actuators accordingly.
Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve In the unpowered state, the output port of the valve is connected to the ventilation port (atmospheric pressure). The more voltage applied, the more the valve shifts over from the ventilation port to the vacuum port so that the vacuum at the output port becomes stronger.

The turbocharger bypass valve is a pressure relief valve in the intake system. It short-circuits the inlet and the outlet of the fresh air side of the turbocharger. This is used to maintain the rotational energy of the turbine when the throttle valve is quickly closed and the compressed air would have nowhere to go. The bypass valve allows the air to be pumped in circles which avoids pressure spikes.
