Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Static Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator
  3. Test for 10 to 12 ohms between the test points: Control terminal 1/6 & Ignition terminal 5
    • If not between 10 and 12 ohms 

      Replace the component: M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator

    • Go to next step: If between 10 and 12 ohms 
  4. All OK.

Dynamic Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:
    • M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator - All
    • M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator - All
  3. NOTE:

    Test all of the following components one at a time: M129 & M130

  4. Connect a 5 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Ignition terminal 5 & 12 V
  5. CAUTION:

    Complete the testing as quickly as possible in order to prevent overheating and damaging the component.

  6. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the test points:
    • Control terminal 1 & Ground
    • Control terminal 6 & Ground

      Verify the component turns On and Off or the fuse does not open when connecting and disconnecting the jumper wire: M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator or M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator

    • If the component does not turn On and Off or the fuse opens 

      Replace the component: M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator or M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator

    • Go to next step: If the component turns On and Off & The fuse does not open 
  7. All OK.
