Assemble Procedure
- NOTE:
Coat all bearing surfaces with engine oil.
Exhaust Camshaft (1) - Install
- Intake Camshaft (2) - Install
- Camshaft Cover Opening Plug (3) Not serviceable
Ensure that the camshaft notch at the front of the camshaft is in the 6 o'clock position.
- NOTE:
Coat all bearing surfaces with engine oil.
Camshaft Bearing Cap (1, 2, 3) - Install [3x]
Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt (1) - Install and hand tighten [26x]

CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolt - Tighten in sequence [26x]
- First Pass: 8 N.m (71 lb in)
- Second Pass: Loosen bolts 60 degrees, use the EN-45059 Angle Meter
- Final Pass: 15 N.m (11 lb ft)
- CAUTION:
Tamper Proof Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve - Fresh Air: Do not attempt to remove the PCV valve by prying or twisting the PCV valve to separate the valve from the mating cover or component. Prying or twisting the PCV valve will result in fracture of one or more valve retention tabs which can fall into the engine resulting in internal engine damage. Remove the PCV valve mating cover or component from the engine before attempting to remove the PCV valve.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve (4)
NOTE:Use care around the positive crankcase ventilation valve to ensure you do not break the 3 tabs that hold it to the camshaft carrier.
- Camshaft Position Sensor Seal (3) - Install NEW
- Camshaft Position Sensor (2) - Install [6x]
- Camshaft Position Sensor Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [6x] 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)
- NOTE:
Coat the camshaft position actuator seal with a bit engine oil.
Camshaft Position Actuator Seal (3) - Install NEW [6x]
- Camshaft Position Actuator (2) - Install [6x]
- Camshaft Position Actuator Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [12x] 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)
Install - EN-52462-A Camshaft Tool
