Removal Procedure

WARNING:

When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

    NOTE:

    It is only necessary to lower the headlining. Only do those steps in the headlining procedure that will allow access to the component being removed.

  1. Lower the rear of the headlining trim panel. Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (With C3U) , or Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (Without C3U)

    Liftgate Upper Center Trim Finish Panel (1) - Remove - Liftgate Upper Center Trim Finish Panel Replacement

  3. Disconnect all electrical connectors.

    NOTE:

    It is only necessary to remove the actuator from the liftgate. Do not remove actuator from vehicle.

    Remove the liftgate power assist actuator (1) from the liftgate. Liftgate Power Assist Actuator Replacement

    NOTE:

    It is only necessary to remove the liftgate strut from the liftgate. Do not remove strut from vehicle.

    Remove the liftgate strut (1) from the liftgate. Liftgate Strut Replacement

    Mark the position of the hinges with a grease pencil. [2x]

  7. NOTE:

    Because of the tight clearance between vehicle and liftgate hinge, it is easier to remove liftgate hinge with liftgate.

  8. Liftgate Hinge Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

    With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate. (2)

  10. Liftgate Hinge Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
  11. Transfer components as necessary.
