Circuit/System Testing

Test 1
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:S82 Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Low Reference circuit terminal 1 & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Low Reference circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal 10 X3@Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter:Windshield Wiper High Speed Switch = Inactive
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 2@Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 2 & Low Reference circuit terminal 1
- Verify the scan tool parameter:Windshield Washer Switch = Active
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Jumper wire(s)
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 2@Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 2@Component harness & Terminal 20 X3@Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Test for greater than 8 V between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3 & Ground
- If less than 8 V
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal 20 X3@Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If 8 V or greater
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3@S82 Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch & Ground
- If greater than 1 V
Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- If greater than 1 V
- Test or replace the component:S82 Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch
NOTE:
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
Test 2
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:M75 Windshield Wiper Motor
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 4 & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 4 & Ground terminal G203
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter:Windshield Wiper Park Signal = Inactive
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1 & Ground circuit terminal 4
- Verify the scan tool parameter:Windshield Wiper Park Signal = Active
- If not the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Jumper wire(s)
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Circuit terminal 17 X4@Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - OffRemove the component:KR12B Windshield Wiper Relay
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:
- Ground circuit terminal 85@Component harness & Ground
- Ground circuit terminal 87A@Component harness & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit & The other end of the circuit@Ground terminal
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 87 & Ground circuit terminal 87A
- If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Remove the component:F16UA Fuse
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 87@Relay Socket & Output terminal@Fuse
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
- If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is open
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Remove the component:F16UA Fuse
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 87 & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistanceReplace the component:X50A Fuse Block - Underhood &
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On
- Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal 86 & Ground circuit terminal 85
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Perform the scan tool control function:Windshield Wiper Motor Relay - Low SpeedActive & Off
Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.
- If the test lamp is always Off
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control Circuit@Relay Socket & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Control Circuit@Relay Socket & The other end of the circuit@Control module harnessTerminal
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- If the test lamp is always On
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control Circuit & Ground
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Install the component:KR12B Windshield Wiper Relay
- Remove the component:KR12C Windshield Wiper Speed Control Relay
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Control circuit terminal 30 & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
Test or replace the component:KR12B Windshield Wiper Relay
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal 30 & Ground
- Perform the scan tool control function:Windshield Wiper Motor Relay Command - Low SpeedActive & Off
- Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.
- If the test lamp does not turn On and Off
Test or replace the component:KR12B Windshield Wiper Relay
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off
- If the test lamp does not turn On and Off
- Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 85 & Ground
- If the test lamp does not turn On
Replace the component:X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On
- If the test lamp does not turn On
- Connect a test lamp between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 85 & Control circuit terminal 86
- Perform the scan tool control function:Windshield Wiper Motor Relay Command - High SpeedActive = Off
- Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.
- If the test lamp is always Off
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control Circuit@Relay Socket & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Control Circuit@Relay Socket & The other end of the circuit
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Test or replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- If the test lamp is always On
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector:K9 Body Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control Circuit & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Install the component:KR12C Windshield Wiper Speed Control Relay
- Connect a test lamp between the test points:M75 Windshield Wiper MotorControl circuit terminal 5 & Ground circuit terminal 4
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Perform the scan tool control function:Windshield Wiper Motor Relay - Low Speed & Off
Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.
- If the test lamp is always Off
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Remove the component:KR12C Windshield Wiper Speed Control Relay
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control Circuit & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Control Circuit@Relay Socket & The other end of the circuit
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Test or replace the component:KR12C Windshield Wiper Speed Control Relay
- If the test lamp is always On
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Remove the component:KR12C Windshield Wiper Speed Control Relay
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control Circuit@Relay Socket & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 VTest or replace the component:KR12C Windshield Wiper Speed Control Relay
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off
- Test or replace the component:M75 Windshield Wiper Motor
