Circuit/System Description
Hybrid/EV Battery Low State of Charge Recovery
The hybrid/EV battery pack is charged during normal vehicle operation in Park, Reverse, Drive, or Low. The battery is not charged in Neutral. During normal operation, the state of charge is maintained at or near an optimum level of charge. Circumstances that result in an Engine Cranks But Does Not Run condition, combined with several engine cranking attempts, may deplete the hybrid/EV battery pack to a deep discharged level that will prohibit further engine cranking.
The EL-50332 Hybrid/EV Battery Service Tool is used to recover a hybrid/EV battery pack after it has been deep discharged. The tool will recover the hybrid/EV battery pack, as required, based on measured cell group voltage data. The EL-50332 requires feedback from the K114B Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module 2 during the recovery process. Communication is through the K114B Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module 2 X3 connector and a low voltage interface harness provided with the EL-50332 Hybrid/EV Battery Service Tool. The recovery is performed by disconnecting the high voltage battery positive cable from the accessory DC power control module and connecting EL-50332-265 14V Accessory Power Module Harness Interface Cable to the cable.
