Installation Procedure

Install the upper intermediate steering shaft and upper intermediate steering shaft boot as an assembly.

Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft (3) - Install
Prepare the intermediate steering shaft upper bolt (2) for installation.
1. Clean the threads of the bolt and mating threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. (2)
2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. (2) Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

CAUTION:

Fastener Caution .

Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (2) - Install and tighten 39 N.m (29 lb ft)
Slide the upper intermediate steering shaft boot (1) downwards and align the boot to the intermediate steering shaft inner boot.

Secure the upper intermediate steering shaft boot (1) with the retaining tabs (2) on the intermediate steering shaft inner boot.

Prepare the intermediate steering shaft upper bolt (1) for installation.
1. Clean the threads of the bolt and mating threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. (1)
2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. (1) Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 42 N.m (31 lb ft)

Remove the CH-42640 Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin (1) from the steering column lower access hole.
