WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

(CJ2) (-UE1)

  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off Disconnect the electrical connector: @ E4A - Park Lamps/Daytime Running Lamp = Inoperative It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
  2. Test for less than 15 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 1 & Ground
    • If 15 ohms or greater
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 1 & Ground connection G102
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 15 ohms
  3. Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal 3 & Ground - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  4. Perform the appropriate scan tool control function:Daytime Running Lamps - On/Off - Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.
    • If the test lamp is always On
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X5 & X7 @ K9 Body Control Module - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
    3. Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control circuit terminal & Ground
      • If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off
  5. Test or replace the component:E4A - Park Lamps/Daytime Running Lamp = Inoperative

    • If 4.65 V or less
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off Disconnect the electrical connector:X2 @ K9 Body Control Module
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3 & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
    • Go to next step: If greater than 4.65 V
  5. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3 & Ground
  6. Verify the scan tool parameter:Ambient Light Sensor = Less than 0.196 V
    • If 0.196 V or greater
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off - Disconnect the electrical connector:X2 @ K9 Body Control Module - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
    2. Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Signal circuit terminal 3 & Ground
      • If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If less than 1 V
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Signal circuit terminal @ Component harness & Signal circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
