Circuit/System Testing

DTC B2585

    NOTE:

    It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.

  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off - Disconnect the electrical connector.x5 @ K9 Body Control Module - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:Each B+ circuit terminal & Ground
    • Terminal 3
    • Terminal 4
      • If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK 
    1. Ignition Off - Disconnect the electrical connector:x1 @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:B+ circuit - Component harness & Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
      • If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is open 
    3. Ignition Off - Disconnect the electrical connector:x1 @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
    4. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: - B+ & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
      • If the test lamp turns On 
  3. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off Connect the electrical connector:x5 @ K9 Body Control Module
  4. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off Disconnect the following: - It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
    • E2LF Side Marker Lamp - Left Front
    • E2LR Side Marker Lamp - Left Rear
    • E4AF Turn Signal Lamp - Left Front Outer
    • E5E Tail Lamp - Left
    • E5F Tail Lamp - Right
  5. Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground terminal @ Component & Chassis Ground
    • E2LF Side Marker Lamp - Left Front
    • E2LR Side Marker Lamp - Left Rear
    • E4AF Turn Signal Lamp - Left Front Outer
    • E5E Tail Lamp - Left
    • E5F Tail Lamp - Right
    • If 10 ohms or greater 
    1. Ignition OffGT
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground terminal @ Component harness & Ground terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
      • Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms 
  6. Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component & Chassis Ground - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service ModeG
    • E2LF Side Marker Lamp - Left Front
    • E2LR Side Marker Lamp - Left Rear
    • E4AF Turn Signal Lamp - Left Front Outer
    • E5E Tail Lamp - Left
    • E5F Tail Lamp - Right
  7. Perform the scan tool control function:Park Lamps-Left On and Off - Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.G
    • If the test lamp is always Off 
    1. Ignition Off - Disconnect the electrical connector :x7 Harness Connector @ K9 Body Control Module
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: - Control Circuit & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component harness & Control circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
      • Go to next step: If the test lamp is always On 
    4. Ignition Off - Disconnect the electrical connector :x7 Harness Connector @ K9 Body Control Module - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
    5. Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component harness & Control circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 1 V or greaterRepair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
      • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off 
  8. Test or replace the component:InoperativePark Lamps

DTC B3867

    NOTE:

    It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.

  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off - Disconnect the electrical connector. x1 @ K9 Body Control Module - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 2 & Ground
    • If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK 
    1. Ignition Off - Remove - F21DA Fuse @ X51A Fuse Block - Instrument Panel
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: - B+ & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
      • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On 
  3. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off Connect the electrical connector:x1 @ K9 Body Control Module
  4. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off Disconnect the following: - It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
    • E2RF Side Marker Lamp - Right Front
    • E2RR Side Marker Lamp - Right Rear
    • E4AH Turn Signal Lamp - Right Front Outer
  5. Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground terminal @ Component & Chassis Ground
    • E2RF Side Marker Lamp - Right Front
    • E2RR Side Marker Lamp - Right Rear
    • E4AH Turn Signal Lamp - Right Front Outer
    • If 10 ohms or greater 
    1. Ignition Off GT
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground terminal @ Component harness & Ground terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
      • Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms 
  6. Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component & Chassis Ground - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service ModeG
    • E2RF Side Marker Lamp - Right Front
    • E2RR Side Marker Lamp - Right Rear
    • E4AH Turn Signal Lamp - Right Front Outer
  7. Perform the scan tool control function:Park Lamps-RightOn and Off - Verify the test lamp turns On and Off.G
    • If the test lamp is always Off 
    1. Ignition Off - Disconnect the electrical connector: x4 Harness Connector @ K9 Body Control Module
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: - Control Circuit & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component harness & Control circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greaterRepair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
      • Go to next step: If the test lamp is always On 
    4. Ignition Off - Disconnect the electrical connector: x4 Harness Connector @ K9 Body Control Module - Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
    5. Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component harness & Control circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 1 V or greaterRepair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V - Replace the component:K9 Body Control Module
      • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off 
  8. Test or replace the component:Inoperative Park Lamps
