Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off - Disconnect the electrical connector: @ E13 Headlamp Assembly
  2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 5 & Ground
    • If 15 ohms or greater 
    1. Ignition Off
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal @ Component harness & Ground circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 15 ohms 
  3. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  4. Connect a test lamp between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 11 & Ground - Verify the test lamp turns On.
    • If the test lamp does not turn On 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off - Disconnect the electrical connector:X1 @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:B+ circuit & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistanceRepair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Control circuit terminal @ Component harness & Control circuit terminal @ Control module harness
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On 
  5. Test or replace the component:K28 Headlamp Leveling Control Module
  6. Ignition On
  7. Perform the scan tool control function:Left Headlamp Horizontal Motor Command & Right Headlamp Horizontal Motor Command = Up/Down
    • If the scan tool procedure was not successful 
    • Test or replace the component:E13 Headlamp Assembly
    • Go to next step: If the scan tool procedure was successful 
  8. All OK.
