Installation Procedure

Clean the engine upper front cover sealing surfaces.

NOTE:
The complete installation procedure of the upper engine front cover and the engine mount bracket must be completed within 10 minutes of applying the sealing compound. DO NOT install sealing compound onto the engine upper front cover bolt hole bores and threads.

Apply approximately a 3 mm (0.12 in) thick bead of sealant at (1, 3) of the engine upper front cover (2). In the areas marked with circles, the sealant width must be increased to 4 mm (0.16 in) in order to prevent leaks.

Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
1. Apply approximately a 4.0 mm thick bead of sealant in the circled areas of the engine upper front cover (2). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

Apply additional sealant (1, 2) to the seams between the cylinder head and the cylinder block in the shown areas.

NOTE:
Position the engine upper front cover exactly onto the engine lower front cover bores.

Install the engine upper front cover (1) onto the engine lower front cover (3) then to the cylinder head (2).

CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .

Engine Front Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 10 N.m (89 lb in)
