Installation Procedure

    Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator adjuster (2).

  2. Mind the camshaft pin (1), the exhaust camshaft position actuator adjuster does fit in only one position.
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator adjuster bolt (3) and tighten a first pass to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).
    4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .

  4. Tighten the exhaust camshaft position actuator adjuster bolt a final pass to an additional 120 - 135 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.

    Install the intake camshaft position actuator adjuster (1).

  6. Mind the camshaft pin (2), the intake camshaft position actuator adjuster does fit in only one position.
  7. Install the intake camshaft position actuator adjuster bolt (3) and tighten a first pass to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).
    8. CAUTION:

    Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .

  8. Tighten the intake camshaft position actuator adjuster bolt a final pass to an additional 120 - 135 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.

    Install the camshaft timing chain to the camshaft position actuator adjuster.

  10. Ensure that the self-made colored links (1, 2) match to the marks on the camshaft position adjuster actuators.

    Install the timing chain tensioner (1).

  12. Install the 2 timing chain tensioner bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

    Push the timing chain guide - left side (2) in the direction of the arrow.

  14. Remove the 2mm drill bit, or equivlent (3) from the tensioner (1).

    Loosen the EN-51148  holding tool bolts (2, 3, 4).

  16. Remove the EN-51148  holding tool (1).

    Install the upper timing chain guide (1).

  18. Install the upper timing chain guide bolts (2) and tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
  19. Check the position of the crankshaft, camshaft and camshaft position actuator adjuster.
  20. Raise the vehicle.
    1. Turn crankshaft 720 degrees in the direction of engine rotation by the crankshaft balancer absorber bolt.

      Adjust the engine to cylinder 1 top death center (TDC) of combustion stroke. Set crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until the markings (2) and (3) line up. Rotate at the crankshaft balancer absorber bolt (1).

      Install the EN-51148  holding tool (1) to camshafts and to the cylinder head.

      1. Tighten the bolt (3) in the middle.
      2. Tighten the 2 outer bolts (2, 4).
    4. If EN-51148  holding tool can be installed, the engine timing is properly adjusted.
    5. Remove the middle bolt (3) and the 2 outer bolts (2, 4) and remove the EN-51148  holding tool (1).
  21. Install the upper engine front cover. Engine Front Cover Replacement - Upper 
  22. Install the engine mount bracket. Engine Mount Bracket Replacement 
  23. Front Wheelhouse Liner-Right Side - Remove - FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER REPLACEMENT - RIGHT SIDE (LKN)
  24. Install the camshaft cover. Camshaft Cover Replacement
