Installation Procedure

The camshaft position actuators must be installed on the marked position (2) of the camshaft timing chain (1).

Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator (1).
Readjust the camshaft until the dowel pin (2) engage to camshaft (3)

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

CAUTION:

Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .

NOTE:

Counterhold the camshaft with a wrench.

NOTE:

The exhaust camshaft can be slightly mis-positioned in the slide bearings. Tightening the bolt it will adjust to it the original position.

Install a NEW exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt (4) and tighten to:
Tighten
1. First pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
2. Final pass to an additional 90 degrees using the EN-45059 meter

Install the intake camshaft position actuator (1).
Readjust the camshaft until the dowel pin (2) engage to camshaft (3)

NOTE:

Counterhold the camshaft with a wrench.

Install a NEW intake camshaft position actuator bolt (4) and tighten to:
Tighten
1. First pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
2. Final pass to an additional 90 degrees using the EN-45059 meter

Remove the pin from the timing chain tensioner (1).

Loosen the bolt (1, 4).
Loosen 2 the bolts (6).
Remove the EN-51397-2 retainer (2).
Remove EN-51397-1 retainer (5).
Timing Chain Upper Guide Replacement - Install
Check the position of the crankshaft, camshaft and camshaft position actuator.

NOTE:
TDC position can be identified at the crankshaft balancer by the notch (1) on the crankshaft balancer and the marking (2) on the engine front cover. Refer to the appropriate illustration for reference.

Confirm the engine remains at TDC by viewing the marks (1 and 2).

Install the EN-51367 holder (1).
If the EN-51367 holder (1) can be installed, the engine timing is properly adjusted.
Raise the vehicle.

Install the seal ring (2)
Install the engine front cover hole plug (1) and tighten to 50 N.m 37 (lb ft).
Lower the vehicle.

Engine Lift Bracket - Install
Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Install
Camshaft Cover Replacement - Install
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement - Install
