Removal Procedure

- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
- Intake Manifold Cover - Remove - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Retainer (1) - Disengage
- Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Disconnect and position aside
- Radiator Inlet Hose Retainer (3) - Disengage
- Radiator Inlet Hose (4) @ Water Outlet - Disconnect and position aside
- Thermostat Bypass Hose Clamp (5) - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Heater Inlet Hose Retainer (1) - Disengage
- Heater Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Disconnect and position aside
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature sensor. (3)
- Water Outlet Bolt (4) - Remove
Water Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]
- Water Outlet (2) - Remove
- Water Outlet Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD
NOTE:
Using a pair of long needle nose pliers will aid in removing the hose clamp.
