Initialization/Teach Procedure:

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • The sunroof motor should be calibrated before the sunshade motor.
  • If the Initialization/Teach Process fails, disconnect the battery to reset the sunroof and sunshade motors. Wait 1 minute before reconnecting the battery.
  • If the switch is held for more than 10 seconds after the glass or sunshade has completed its teach/learn cycle, the sunroof can throw a 'stuck switch' fault code. If this happens repeat the 2 steps above.
  • The Control Module provides obstacle blockage detection. If the Initialization/Teach Process is not carried out completely, the sunshade may stop and reverse slightly when it gets to the location where it needs to push down the windscreen.
  • If multiple failed Initialization/Teach Process failures occur, remove the control module and operate the Sunshade by hand to verify there is no blockage.

Sunroof Procedure 

Steps 2 - 4 get the roof in the correct position to start the initialization process.

  1. Start the procedure with the engine running.
  2. If possible, put the sunshade in the full open position.
  3. Press and hold the Sunroof Close switch until the sunroof is stopped in the Closed position.
  4. Release the Sunroof Close switch.
  5. Press the Sunroof Close switch for less than 1 second.
  6. Press the Sunshade Open Switch for less than 1 second. (This must be done within 5 seconds of step 4).
  7. Press and hold the Sunroof Close Switch. (This must be done within 5 seconds of step 5).
  8. Continue to hold the Sunroof Close switch, after 11 - 15 seconds the Sunroof will start to move. Continue to hold the switch.
  9. The Sunroof will move to the open position and back to the close position.
  10. When the Sunroof has reached the closed position and has stopped for 2 seconds, release the switch.
  11. Check the Sunroof express open and close operation.

If the module does not start moving at step 7, repeat the process from the beginning. If the procedure is interrupted while the sunroof or sunshade is moving, repeat the initialization procedure.

Sunshade Procedure 

Steps 2 - 3 get the roof in the correct position to start the initialization process.

  1. Start the procedure with the engine running.
  2. Press and hold the Sunshade Close switch until the Sunshade is stopped in the Closed position.
  3. Release the Sunshade Close switch.
  4. Press the Sunshade Close switch for less than 1 second.
  5. Press the Sunroof Close Switch for less than 1 second. (This must be done within 5 seconds of step 4).
  6. Press and hold the Sunshade Close Switch. (This must be done within 5 seconds of step 5).
  7. Continue to hold the Sunshade Close switch, after 11 - 15 seconds the Sunroof will start to move. Continue to hold the switch.
  8. The Sunshade will move to the open position and back to the close position.
  9. When the Sunshade has reached the closed position and has stopped for 2 seconds, release the switch.
  10. Check the Sunshade express open and close operation.
