Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Static Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve
  3. Test for 10 to 14 ohms between the test points:Control terminal 2 & Ignition terminal 1 - Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve
    • If not between 10 and 14 ohms 

      Replace the component:Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve

    • Go to next step: If between 10 and 14 ohms 
  4. All OK.

Dynamic Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve
  3. Connect a jumper wire between the test points:Control terminal 1 & Ground
    4. CAUTION:

    Complete the testing as quickly as possible in order to prevent overheating and damaging the component.

  4. Momentarily connect a 10 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Ignition terminal 2 & 12 V

    Verify the component opens and closes:Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve

    • If the component does not open and close 

      Replace the component:Q40 Turbocharger Bypass Solenoid Valve

    • Go to next step: If the component opens and closes 
  5. All OK.
