Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Static Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
  3. Test for 10 to 30 ohms between the test points:Control terminal 1/A & B+ terminal 2/B
    • If not between 10 and 30 ohms 

      Replace the component:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve

    • Go to next step: If between 10 and 30 ohms 
  4. All OK.

Dynamic Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
  3. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: B+ terminal 2/B & 12 V
    4. CAUTION:

    Complete the testing as quickly as possible in order to prevent overheating and damaging the component.

  5. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the test points: Control terminal 1/A & Ground

    Verify the component turns On and Off when connecting and disconnecting the jumper wire: Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve

    • If the component does not turn On and Off 

      Replace the component:Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve

    • Go to next step: If the component turns On and Off 
  6. All OK.
