Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

S64P Seat Adjuster Switch - Passenger

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:S64P Seat Adjuster Switch - Passenger
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Switch - All - Released
    • Component terminal A & E
    • Component terminal C & E
    • Component terminal D & E
    • Component terminal G & E
    • Component terminal H & E
    • Component terminal K & E
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component:S64P Seat Adjuster Switch - Passenger

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Switch - All - Released
    • Component terminal A & B
    • Component terminal C & B
    • Component terminal D & B
    • Component terminal G & B
    • Component terminal H & B
    • Component terminal K & B
    • If 2 ohms or greater 

      Replace the component:S64P Seat Adjuster Switch - Passenger

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms 
  5. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Switch - Pressed
    • {Passenger Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch - Up}Component terminal A & E
    • {Passenger Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch - Down}Component terminal K & E
    • {Passenger Seat Horizontal Switch - Forward}Component terminal D & E
    • {Passenger Seat Horizontal Switch - Rearward}Component terminal C & E
    • {Passenger Seat Back Switch - Forward}Component terminal H & E
    • {Passenger Seat Back Switch - Rearward}Component terminal G & E
    • If 2 ohms or greater 

      Replace the component:S64P Seat Adjuster Switch - Passenger

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms 
  6. All OK.

Seat Motor

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector:
    • M51P Seat Horizontal Motor - Passenger
    • M55P Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Passenger
    • M56P Seat Recline Motor - Passenger
  3. Connect a 30 A fused jumper wire between the test points:Control terminal 1 & B+
  4. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the test points:Control terminal 3 & GroundVerify the component works as specified:The component should change direction when reversing the jumper wires back and forth between the terminals.
    • If the component does not work as specified 

      Replace the component:Seat Motor

    • Go to next step: If the component works as specified 
  5. All OK.
