Circuit/System Testing
Test 1
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal B & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Disconnect the ground connection:
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal B@Component harness & The other end of the circuit@Ground terminal
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal E & Ground
- If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK
- Remove - Test Lamp
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:B+ circuit terminal E & Output terminal@Fuse
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
- If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is open
- Remove - Test Lamp
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: B+ circuit terminal E & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Replace the component:Fuse
- Connect the electrical connector:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
Verify the fuse does not open.
- If the fuse opens - Test or replace the component:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- Go to next step: If the fuse does not open
- Operate each of the controls. - S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver - Up & Down/Forward & Rearward
Verify the fuse does not open when any of the components are activated.
- If the fuse opens - Disconnect the component which caused the fuse to open.
Retest to verify if the short is in the circuit or the component.
- Go to next step: If the fuse does not open.
- If the fuse opens - Disconnect the component which caused the fuse to open.
- All OK.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On
- Test or replace the component: S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
Test 2
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate component:
- M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver
- M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver
- M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver
- M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver
- Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1 & Control circuit terminal 3
- Operate the component:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver - Up & Down/Forward & Rearward
Verify the test lamp turns On.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp remains Off during either of the commands
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
- Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Ground
- Control circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
- {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}
Control terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal K @S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
Control terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal A@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- {M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver}
Control terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal J@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
Control terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal F@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- {M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver}
Control terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal C@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
Control terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal D@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- {M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver}
Control terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal H@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
Control terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal G@S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Test or replace the component: S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
- {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On for each command
- Test or replace the component:Seat Motor
