Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Test 1

    NOTE:

It is only necessary to test or verify the function that did not pass in Circuit/System Verification.

It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.

  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver
  3. Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal E & Ground
    • If 10 ohms or greater
    1. Disconnect the ground connection:
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal E@Component harness & The other end of the circuit@Ground terminal
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
  4. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  5. Perform the following test for the appropriate component.

Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:

    • {Driver Seat Cushion Front Vertical Switch - Up}Signal circuit terminal A & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Cushion Front Vertical Switch - Down}Signal circuit terminal K & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch - Up}Signal circuit terminal F & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch - }DownSignal circuit terminal J & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Horizontal Switch - Forward}Signal circuit terminal D & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Horizontal Switch - Rearward}Signal circuit terminal C & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Back Switch - Forward}Signal circuit terminal H & Ground circuit terminal E
    • {Driver Seat Back Switch - Rearward}Signal circuit terminal G & Ground circuit terminal E
    • Verify the scan tool parameter:
    • Driver Seat Cushion Front Vertical Switch = Up/Down
    • Driver Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch = Up/Down
    • Driver Seat Horizontal Switch = Forward/Rearward
    • Driver Seat Back Switch = Forward/Rearward
    • If not the specified state
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Jumper wire(s)
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X5@K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
      • {Driver Seat Cushion Front Vertical Switch - Up}Signal circuit terminal A@Component harness & Terminal 9@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Cushion Front Vertical Switch - Down}Signal circuit terminal K@Component harness & Terminal 10@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch - Up}Signal circuit terminal F@Component harness & Terminal 19@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Cushion Rear Vertical Switch - Down}Signal circuit terminal J@Component harness & Terminal 20@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Horizontal Switch - Forward}Signal circuit terminal D@Component harness & Terminal 7@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Horizontal Switch - Rearward}Signal circuit terminal C@Component harness & Terminal 8@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Back Switch - Forward}Signal circuit terminal H@Component harness & Terminal 21@Control module harnessX5
      • {Driver Seat Back Switch - Rearward}Signal circuit terminal G@Component harness & Terminal 22@Control module harnessX5
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
    • Go to next step: If the specified state
  6. Test or replace the component:S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver

Test 2Seat Motor

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X1@K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
  3. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 2 & Ground
    • If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is OK
    1. Remove - Test Lamp
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 2 & Output terminal@Fuse
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
    • If the test lamp does not turn On and the circuit fuse is open
    1. Remove - Test Lamp
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 2 & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance - Replace the component:K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On
  4. Connect the electrical connector:X1@K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
  5. Disconnect the appropriate component:
    • M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver
    • M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver
    • M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver
    • M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver
  6. Connect a test lamp between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1 & Control circuit terminal 3
  7. NOTE:

The component switch will not work after using a scan tool device control. The component switch will work after exiting the scan tool Control Functions menu.
