Circuit/System Testing

DTC B3920 01, B3920 02

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X3@K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
    • {M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver}Control terminal 1@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver}Control terminal 2@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 3@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 4@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 5@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 6@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver}Control terminal 11@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver}Control terminal 12@Control module harness & Ground
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Repair the short to ground on the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  4. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  5. Test for less than 1 V between the test points:
    • {M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver}Control terminal 1@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver}Control terminal 2@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 3@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 4@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 5@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver}Control terminal 6@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver}Control terminal 11@Control module harness & Ground
    • {M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver}Control terminal 12@Control module harness & Ground
    • If 1 V or greater 

      Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If less than 1 V 
  6. Replace the component:K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver

DTC B3920 00, B3920 0B

  1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Clear the DTCs.
  3. Operate the component:One at a time

    Verify the DTC does not set.

    • M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver
    • M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver
    • M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver
    • M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver
    • If the DTC sets 
    1. Disconnect the appropriate component:
    2. Clear the DTCs.
    3. Operate the component:Seat Motor - Forward & Rearward/Up & Down

      Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:Control circuit terminal 1 & Control circuit terminal 3
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short between the circuits.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
      • {M50D Seat Front Vertical Motor - Driver}

        Control circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal 3 X3@Control module harness

        Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal 4 X3@Control module harness

      • {M55D Seat Rear Vertical Motor - Driver}

        Control circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal 5 X3@Control module harness

        Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal 6 X3@Control module harness

      • {M51D Seat Horizontal Motor - Driver}

        Control circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal 11 X3@Control module harness

        Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal 12 X3@Control module harness

      • {M56D Seat Recline Motor - Driver}

        Control circuit terminal 1@Component harness & Terminal 1 X3@Control module harness

        Control circuit terminal 3@Component harness & Terminal 2 X3@Control module harness

      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component:K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver
    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set 
  4. Test or replace the component:Seat Motor
