Installation Procedure

Wheel Drive Shaft Retainer (1) @Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft (2) - Install NEW
Wheel Drive Shaft Washer (1) @Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft (2) - Install NEW
- Thoroughly clean the threads using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
- NOTE:
Ensure that there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the threads on the shaft. Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation of the nut.
Apply threadlocker to the front wheel drive half shaft threads (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft (1) - Install
- Install the front wheel drive half shaft into the front wheel bearing and hub assembly.
- Install the lower control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle. Lower Control Arm Replacement
- Connect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Have an assistant apply the brakes.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (1) - Install NEW and tighten
- First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
- Second Pass: Loosen (45 Degrees)
- Final Pass: 250 N.m (185 lb ft)
- Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Inspect the transmission fluid level. Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
- Remove the drain pan.
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
NOTE:
The threads must be clean and free of debris prior to the application of the threadlocker to ensure proper adhesion and retention.
