Installation Procedure

  1. If installing a new master cylinder, bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding .

    NOTE:

    Ensure the O-ring seal is properly seated in the groove in the master cylinder body and is not distorted.

    Install the master cylinder O-ring seal (1).

    Install the master cylinder (1).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    Install new master cylinder nuts.

    Install new master cylinder nuts (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. GM2739672

    Connect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  6. GM2739671

    Connect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the brake fluid level indicator switch harness to the clips on the master cylinder reservoir.
  8. Connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
  9. If equipped with RPO LFX, install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LFX) .
  10. Reposition the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LFX) .
  11. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
