Preliminary Procedures

Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
Remove the instrument panel insulator - left side. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side .

Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Nut (Qty: 2)

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten
9 N.m (80 lb in)

Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Assembly

Procedure

Release the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and release both snap fit clips on the sides of the connector. Disconnect the connector from the instrument panel lower airbag assembly.
Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping .
Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
