Front Seat Removal and Installation

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Disconnect the seat belt from the tensioner. Refer to Front Seat Belt Anchor Plate Tensioner Replacement .
  3. Remove the front seat adjuster track finish inboard and outboard covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .
1 Driver or Passenger Seat Bolt (Qty: 2)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Procedure 
Adjust the seat to the forward position to gain access to the bolts.
If a power seat is inoperative and cannot be moved forward to access the bolts, use the following procedure.
  1. Partially remove the front seat cushion cover and pad to access the horizontal drive cables of the actuator motor. Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement 
  2. Disconnect the drive cables from the actuator motor.
  3. Connect one of the drive cables to an electric drill. Use the drill to move the seat forward approximately 5 cm (2 in).
  4. Disconnect the drill and connect it to the other cable. Use the drill to move the seat forward approximately 5 cm (2 in).
  5. Repeat this process, alternating sides, until the seat bolts are accessible.
NOTE:

Once the drive cables have been disconnected from the actuator motor, the seat cushion frame must be replaced with a new part.


Tighten 
45 N.m (33 lb ft)
2 Driver or Passenger Seat Assembly

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the front seat and tensioner electrical connector, and passenger presence system connector, if equipped.
  2. With the aid of an assistant remove the front seat, by tilting the seat forward, and then lifting and pulling the seat rearwards to disengage the 4 front foot hooks.
  3. If replacing with a new seat assembly, the new seat adjuster memory module requires programming. Refer to Control Module References
