Circuit/System Testing

NOTE:
  • The pressure must not exceed 13 in H2O (0.5 PSI) as pressure in excess of this could cause system components to perform inaccurately. - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System
  • Before proceeding with this test, review the tool user manual for Safety Information and Instructions. - GE-41413-A / B Evaporative Emissions System Tester (EEST)
  • Larger volume fuel tanks, and/or those with lower fuel levels may require several minutes for the floating indicator to stabilize or produce smoke from a leak.
  • Make sure the underbody temperature of the vehicle and the tester temperature are similar.
  1. Disconnect the evaporative emission pipe quick connector. @ Q12 Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Valve
  2. Connect the special tool : CH-48096 EVAP Service Port Access Tool @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube
  3. Connect the special tool : GE-41413-A / B Evaporative Emissions System Tester (EEST) @ CH-48096 EVAP Service Port Access Tool
  4. Calibrate - GE-41413-A / B Evaporative Emissions System Tester (EEST) - Flow Meter = 0.51 mm (0.020 in)
  5. Perform the scan tool function : EVAP Purge/Seal - Not Venting
  6. Use the special tool : GE-41413-A / B Evaporative Emissions System Tester (EEST)
  7. Verify the tool reading : Flow Meter = Below : Floating Indicator
    • Above : Floating Indicator 
    1. Use the special tool : GE-41413-A / B Evaporative Emissions System Tester (EEST) Switch - Smoke
    2. Use the special tool : GE-41413-SPT High Intensity White Light - Inspect for Leaks
      • If a leak is present

        Repair or replace the components as necessary.

      • Go to next step : If no leak is present
    • Go to next step : Below : Floating Indicator 
  8. All OK.
