Circuit/System Testing

    NOTE:

    This procedure requires a graduated cylinder to measure the amount of fluid injected.

  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  2. Remove the component : Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector - Nozzle @ Exhaust Pipe
  3. Install suitable hose to the component : Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector - Nozzle - Place the other end of the hose into a suitable container.
  4. Engine Running
  5. Verify the condition does not exist : Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector - Leaking
    • If the condition exists 

      Replace the component : Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector

    • Go to next step : If no conditions exist 
  6. NOTE:
    • Activating the device control On prior to taking a flow measurement may cause a faulty injector to test good.
    • Each time the device control is activated, the quantity of fuel that flows into the container must be recorded even if little or no fuel flows.
  7. Perform the scan tool control function : Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector Flow Test & Record the measurement. - Repeat2 times
  8. Verify all measurements are between 30 and 40 mL (1.0 and 1.4 US fl oz)
    • If there is no flow 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Disconnect the component : Fuel Feed Pipe @ Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector
    3. Install suitable hose to the component : Fuel Feed Pipe - Place the other end of the hose into a suitable container.
    4. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
    5. Verify there is fuel flow from the component : Fuel Feed Pipe
      • If there is no flow
      1. Verify the condition does not exist : Fuel Feed Pipe - Restricted
        • If a condition exists - Repair or replace as necessary
        • If no condition exists - Replace the component : G12 Fuel Pump
      • If there is flow - Replace the component : Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector
    • If any measurement is less than 30 ml (1.0 US fl oz) 

      Replace the component : Q67 Exhaust Aftertreatment Fuel Injector

    • If any measurement is greater than 40 ml (1.4 US fl oz) 

      Replace the component : G12 Fuel Pump

    • Go to next step : If all measurements are between 30 and 40 mL (1.0 and 1.4 US fl oz) 
  9. All OK. - Refer to : Diagnostic Aids
